Teaching

Oct 2015-Sept 2017: Writing and language support tutor, UCL Union

As a peer tutor I provided academic writing and language support to non-native English speaking students at UCL through a combination of one-to-one sessions and group workshops.

Jan 2014-Mar 2015: Teaching assistant, Imperial College London

For two academic years, I was involved in the design, delivery and assessment of practical sessions for the Social Epidemiology module of the Master of Public Health programme.

Oct 2012-Sept 2014: Student supervisor/tutor, Imperial College London

During my time as a research assistant, I also co-supervised projects for undergraduate BSc Global Health and postgraduate MPH students, and assisted these students to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals. I was also a tutor for undergraduate medical students studying for an intercalated Global Health qualification which involved facilitating academic group sessions and providing pastoral support.

Mar 2012-present: Assessment associate, Pearson Education

This ongoing seasonal role involves contributing to marking schemes and applying them consistently to assess students taking Edexcel GCSE Science examinations. Though I’m no longer a classroom teacher I find it is very useful in terms of professional development to keep up to date with assessment techniques and standards.

Sept 2009-Aug 2011: secondary school Teacher, Various Locations

I was a Biology/Science teacher and form tutor for children aged 11-18 at Greycoat Hospital and Gumley Convent School in London and at Sandhurst Comprehensive School in Surrey.
