Which groups of children re-enter out-of-home care?
Repeated cycles of exit and re-entry to out-of-home care may disrupt children’s sense of security, stability and permanence. From previous research, we know that certain factors (such as age and amount of time in care) are associated with re-entering care. This tool estimates the likelihood of re-entering care within three months for different groups of children based on their demographic and care characteristics. It may be helpful for understanding which groups of children are most likely to re-enter out-of-home care and who may require additional support or monitoring when leaving care.
